This is where we list all the new Mercury outboard motors we sell, from the 2.5 HP portable up to the Verado 350. Prices are on every listing. Find the horsepower that suits your boat, open the product page, and you can order from there or send us a question first.

Mercury builds more different outboards than almost anyone, which is great until you are trying to figure out which one you actually need. FourStroke, Pro XS, Verado, Command Thrust, ProKicker. The names make sense once you know what each line is for, so we will keep this short and practical.

Every one of these Mercury outboard motors is new. Shaft codes are simple: L is 20 inch, XL is 25 inch, CXL is a 25 inch counter-rotating motor, and XXL is 30 inch. WH means the white cowling. DTS means digital throttle and shift.
Which Mercury outboard motor fits your boat
Check your boat’s capacity plate first. It lists the maximum horsepower, and the right motor usually sits close to it without going over.
For dinghies and small tenders, the 2.5 HP and 5 HP motors are light enough to carry. The 9.9 HP range is where most small boat owners land. The 9.9ELHPT-CT-PK ProKicker is the one to look at if you want a trolling motor with power tilt and a gear case built for slow speed.
Command Thrust (CT) models have a bigger gear case and a larger prop. They push heavy boats better, so pontoon owners and anyone with a loaded workboat should lean toward them. The 40 HP Mercury and 50 HP pages show both standard and Command Thrust versions side by side.
Above 200 HP you are choosing between three ideas. The FourStroke V8 is the sensible, quiet option. The Pro XS is lighter and quicker out of the hole, which is why bass and flats boats use it. The Verado is the premium line with built-in power steering and very little vibration at the helm. Browse the 250 HP, 300 HP and 350 HP pages to compare them.
What owners like about Mercury outboard motors
The V8 FourStrokes and Verados are smooth and quiet for their size. Owners also like that Mercury dealers and service shops exist in most coastal regions, so getting a filter or an impeller is rarely a problem. The official Mercury Marine website has full spec sheets and owner manuals if you want to check a detail before you buy.
The other plus is resale. Well-kept Mercury outboard motors hold their value, so if you sell the boat later the motor helps the price.
Rigging and controls
Tiller motors come ready to run. Remote motors need controls, a key switch and harness, and cables or a DTS kit for the bigger digital models. If you are repowering an older Mercury, some of your existing rigging may carry over. Tell us what you are replacing and we will tell you what else to order.
How buying from us works
You see the motor price on the listing. When you order, we confirm the exact model code, shaft length and color with you, then quote shipping to your address.
We ship worldwide. Portables go by courier. Larger motors ship crated by sea or air freight. Import duty and taxes depend on your country, and we give you the full figure before you pay, so there are no surprises at delivery.
Each motor arrives new in its factory crate with the owner’s manual. Props, controls and gauges are separate on most remote models unless the listing says otherwise.
Looking after Mercury outboard motors
Good maintenance is cheap compared with a repair bill. These are the jobs that matter most.
- Flush the cooling system with fresh water after every saltwater run. Most Mercury outboard motors from 40 HP up have a flush fitting, so the engine does not need to be running.
- Change the oil, oil filter and lower unit gear oil at the service intervals in the owner’s manual. For most motors that is every 100 hours or once a season.
- Replace the water pump impeller every two to three years.
- Check the anodes and replace them when they are half worn.
- Keep fuel fresh and use a water-separating fuel filter, especially on the V8 and V10 motors.
Most breakdowns we hear about trace back to fuel or cooling, not the engine itself. Look after those two systems and Mercury outboard motors are very dependable.
New or used?
Everything in this category is new. If you are working to a tight budget for a small boat, see our used outboard engines. For a family boat or anything going offshore, new Mercury outboard motors are the safer bet because you know exactly what you are getting.
A note on props
The right propeller matters as much as the motor. If your engine cannot reach its rated rpm range at wide open throttle, you need less pitch. If it over-revs, you need more. Tell us your boat and load, and we can suggest a starting prop for any of the Mercury outboard motors we sell.
Common questions
Do you sell twin and triple sets?
Yes. Pair a standard rotation motor with a counter-rotating (C) motor of the same model. We can ship them together.
Are Mercury outboard motors good for saltwater?
Yes, they are built for it. Flush with fresh water after every trip and check the anodes each season, the same as any outboard.
What is the difference between Mercury and Mariner?
Mariner was Mercury’s second brand in some markets. The engines were basically the same. We sell current Mercury branded motors.
